There are few times to "dress up" except for church services and occasional evening events. Day-in-day-out clothes should be of the sturdy and long wearing variety. Hard-to-care-for clothes may be more trouble than they are worth.
Bring what you have, but you may enjoy buying some clothes in other countries. Just be prepared to pay European or South American prices.
Small travel blow dryers can be purchased in Spain for around 10 US$. North American models often do not work well and are "handicapped" even with converters. The same is true for radios. It may be wise to bring a walkman with a radio in it or plan to buy and sell the radio.
An international vaccination certificate is not required for any country of western Europe, but it is still a good idea to have one if it is easily available to you. One of the tours offered by Sagunto may involve North Africa. Students going to Argentina, and Spain may need to be more concerned about this as will any person planning a tour that extends outside Europe, although special vaccinations are not required for any of the ACA program countries.
While jeans are acceptable wear for most activities, there are some limitations on their use.
As soon as possible after you arrive on campus, start using Bibles, hymnals and quarterlies in the local language. This will help develop your vocabulary. At Sagunto a Spanish Bible and hymnal will be given as a gift from the school to each student. At Collonges a French Bible and hymnal are included in the textbooks paid for out of tuition fees.
Even though all-night study rooms are available in residence halls, some students recommend that ACA participants bring a compact high intensity study lamp with a converter and adapter plugs for late night study.
Of course the more you can take from home, the less you need to buy abroad. However, airplane luggage allowances are limited. Choices will have to be made.
